Listen: The 5K for Good Series on Radio Worcester

This fall, three Worcester nonprofits are running races for neighbors who need a safe place to land: a woman leaving an unsafe home, a teenager waiting for mental health care, and a veteran without a home of his own. Abby’s House Executive Director Julie Orozco, Reliant Foundation President Kelsa Zereski, and Veterans Inc Director Raymond Carville sat down with Hank Stolz on Radio Worcester (WCRN 830 AM) to talk about the 5K for Good Series, why their organizations joined forces for a third year, and what every registration makes possible. Their message to anyone on the fence: you don’t have to be a runner. About half of participants walk, and kids, strollers, and dogs are all welcome.

The series kicks off with the Reliant Foundation 5K on October 3, followed by the Abby’s House Hybrid 5K on October 17 and the Veterans Inc Run4Veterans 5K on November 8. Together, the three organizations are aiming to raise $175,000, and anyone who completes all three races earns an exclusive series medal.

About Abby’s House
Abby’s House is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing shelter, affordable housing, and advocacy services to women and children experiencing homelessness and housing instability. For 50 years, Abby’s House has remained committed to creating safe, supportive environments where women receive resources they need to build self-directed live. Grounded in principles of DEI, accessibility, antiracism, and belonging, our work is guided by a deep commitment to advancing social justice and strengthening our community.

In 2026, Abby’s House proudly celebrates its 50th anniversary, honoring five decades of impact while looking ahead to the future of our mission. To mark this milestone, we invite you to join us at our 17th Annual Hybrid 5K, where everyone who has been part of the Abby’s House story can come together to celebrate what has been accomplished and help build what’s next for the women and children we serve. Your participation helps open the door to opportunity. We hope to see you at the starting line.
