We are honored to share that Abby’s House was recently featured on Chamber Exchange, the television program produced by the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce.
In this segment, Executive Director Julie Orozco joins the conversation to reflect on the 50-year history of Abby’s House, the evolution of our programs, and the growing need for safe shelter and affordable housing for women and children in our community.
What began as a small grassroots effort, providing short-term housing for women in crisis, has grown into a comprehensive organization offering emergency shelter, permanent supportive housing, and individualized empowerment planning rooted in dignity, safety, and hospitality.
Today, Abby’s House continues to respond to a critical and increasing need in Central Massachusetts. As Julie shares in the interview, our shelter is one of the few in the region that welcomes both women and children, and our work is deeply focused on meeting each guest where they are, with compassion and care. We are especially proud that this work is made possible through strong community partnerships and private philanthropic support.
As we celebrate our 50th anniversary year, we are grateful for opportunities like this to share our story and highlight the ongoing need for support. We invite you to watch the full segment below and learn more about how Abby’s House continues to provide safety and hope for women and children every day.
