A Virtual Experience Commemorating 50 Years of Abby’s House
A cozy bedroom that displays memorabilia from the past 50 years at Abby’s House! With artifacts sorted and catalogued by WPI’s Worcester 2026 C-term IQP team, this virtual experience was created by another team of WPI students under the advising of Gillian Smith, Molly Pietrantonio, and other Abby’s House staff. This began as a class project that quickly turned into a passion project for the students involved, all of whom continued their work past the end of the official school term.
Here in Abby’s Room you can get a glimpse of what shelter rooms are like and the identity that Abby’s House has shaped into over 50 years helping the community through various interactable artifacts.
We recommend the use of a larger device (tablet, laptop, or desktop computer) to experience the room, though you will be able to interact with it on a mobile device.
Below are some screenshots captured from the room.
Each glowing artifact has an associated “blown-up” model that can be explored further. Additionally, there are descriptions for each artifact, allowing you to delve deeper into the rich history told through plaques, posters, photographs, and much more.
