Position Title: Live-in Shelter Staff
Position Status: Part-Time, including evenings and weekends
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Associate Director of Shelter Operations

Position Overview

The primary responsibility of the Live-in Shelter Staff is to staff the shelter during the hours of 10pm-12am and 6:30am-8:30am on scheduled days and to be on-call between the hours of 12-6:30am. During the on-call shift the Live-in Shelter staff is not required to be awake or on the property, however they must be able to answer any on-call phone calls and be on-site within an hour if an emergency should arise. The Live-in Shelter Staff is expected to respond to any needs that may arise during the shift, and to maintain a safe, secure, respectful environment for shelter guests. The Live-in Shelter Staff is provided a furnished 1-bedroom apartment; this is located in the building. The apartment will include utilities and be provided at a reduced rate-to be negotiated upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the shelter provides safe, sanitary, hospitable, and respectful short-term housing according to the policies set by Abby’s House.
  • Complete nighttime rounds to ensure Shelter is shut down properly each night, remaining on property between the hours of 10:00pm-12:00am.
  • Complete morning wake-up rounds to ensure Shelter Guests have support between the hours of 6:30a-8:30am and have exited shelter by closing (8:30am)
  • Be available for any potential on-call emergencies that may arise between the hours of 12:00am-6:30am. Must be able to be present on property within 1 hour of the call.
  • Provide crisis intervention, safety and support to shelter guests as needed.
  • Keep an accurate, complete log of occurrences and bed assignments.
  • Enforce established shelter guidelines and rules.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness.
  • Ensure that basic food, toiletries and household items are in stock as needed.
  • Identify maintenance needs and complete maintenance request forms as needed.
  • Communicate with the Associate Director of Shelter Operations n an on-going basis and participate in housing team meetings as requested.
  • Maintain the confidentiality standards of Abby’s House and exemplify compassion, hospitality, and respect to the guests and residents at all times.
  • Perform additional tasks as necessary.
