Position Title: Maintenance Technician
Position Status: Full-time 35 hours per week
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Director of Facilities and Maintenance

Position Overview
Maintenance personnel are responsible for efficient, effective, clean, and safe living and working environment within the property management department across all four Abby’s House locations in downtown Worcester. Ensure all areas assigned are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness that is in line with Abby’s House standards and values. Above all, this member of the Abby’s House team will share our dedication and sense of urgency to respond to the needs of women and children facing homelessness by ensuring a safe and clean home to thrive and heal.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assist housekeepers and other Facilities team members to maintain cleanliness at the largest property of supportive housing located at 52 High Street.

  • Work independently to perform housekeeping duties and tasks at three other Abby’s House locations that provide housing and shelter.

  • Perform room turnovers at all four locations.

  • Must be able to effectively communicate building maintenance issues, i.e., leaks, lights out, damaged equipment or damaged property, etc.

  • Assist staff in bi-annual thrift shop seasonal merchandise turnover.

  • Ability to lift 50lbs., bend down repeatedly throughout the workday, stand for hours at a time, lift items above head and properly use small ladders as needed.

  • Will perform maintenance repairs/work orders to all buildings and units as needed.

  • Strip and wax flooring as needed.

  • Landscaping, leaf removal, snow removal.

  • Interior and exterior painting and apartments as needed.

  • Light electrical, light plumbing, light carpentry.

  • Trouble shoot and identify heating issues during winter months, to be fixed or vendor out – after consulting with Facilities Manager.

  • Building systems (boilers, electrical panels, hot water tanks, roof fans / filters).

  • Pick up trash off grounds and around dumpsters.

Qualifications

  • Passion for Abby’s House mission and values.

  • Minimum of 1 years experience.

  • Ability to pay careful attention to detail and thoroughly complete work tasks.

  • Basic building maintenance knowledge.

  • Team oriented.

  • Reliable and on time.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • This position is considered essential. Must have availability during after hour emergencies, snow removal, etc.

Salary & Benefits: This position is full-time. Hourly: $20–$24.
