The city’s population swells this time of year, with an influx of college students. For freshmen, much will be learned about Worcester in the coming years. Here are few helpful things to know.
1. Looking to take out the earbuds and listen to live music? The Palladium in downtown Worcester is a go-to place for bands. The stage over the years has welcomed Jay-Z, The Cult and Slipknot. Ralph’s Rock Diner, a place for sound, not food, has a healthy offering of bands. Other music venues are The Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts and the DCU Center, hosts of big-name shows.
2. For thrifters, Worcester has a handful of places to turn rags into riches. Good deals are possible at: The Goodwill Store on Park Avenue; The Salvation Army Family Store on Cambridge Street; Abby’s House Thrift Shop on High Street; Sweet Jane’s Design Consignment on Main Street; and Savers on Lincoln Street.
